Introduction
In 1967, Jim Bowler, a geologist at the Australian
National University, began a survey of then un-named lake basins in western
NSW. Within 14 years, that area, the Willandra Lakes System, was to become
one of Australia's World Heritage areas.
Compiled in a CD, it traces that journey
of discovery from un-named lakes to the spectacular discoveries of Mungo
Man and related archaeological treasures.
It is a story of Ice Age Australia and the
earliest Australians through to their modern community descendants, the
Aboriginal people of that region today.
This is a story telling package. It tells
of:
- Australia's extraordinary natural and
human history
- swings in Australia's Ice Age climate
and environment
- lifestyles of Ice Age Australians
- early human-land relationships so essential
to our understanding of the present
